AJ Steele is a ceramic artist based in Colorado. He holds a BFA from the University of Denver and maintains an independent studio practice.

After several years of focus on clockwise wheel-throwing, his practice has shifted away from functional ware towards multi-part sculptural forms constructed through coiling and slab-building techniques.

His recent work emphasizes enclosed forms, with surfaces created through layered slip and glaze textures. This interest in containment and structural stress is informed by his own experiences of altered embodiment and transition.
